IPS Mission

Co-Curricular Activities (CCAs)

INTERNATIONAL PUBLIC SCHOOL, offers a mix of Co-Curricular Activities (CCAs) that are both age appropriate, challenging and engaging.

These programs be they performing arts, crafts or sports are open to all students so as to help students develop skills and an appreciation of life-long learning, making friends, having fun, learning to play as a member of a team, learning to play fair and improve self esteem.

CCAs for grades 1-5 and 6-12 are offered in both semesters. We believe that participation in these programs will result in the better health and fitness, stronger physical skills, an enhanced understanding and appreciation of performing arts along with the increased social interactions.

INTRODUCTION

INTERNATIONAL PUBLIC SCHOOL, PURNEA is unique in its approach to co-curricular involvement.

The School offers a gamut of co-curricular activities which include literary, art, cultural and sports competitions which prepare our learners to meet the challenges of a diverse global society.

Enhance their holistic development by cultivating qualities like self-discipline, perseverance, sharing, responsibility, leadership, team collaboration etc. and enable to supplement and complement the curricular activities.

The INTERNATIONAL PUBLIC SCHOOL, PURNEA recognizes that co-curricular activities are an integral and valuable part of a student’s experience at school. Such activities, wisely selected, properly organized and supervised, can in turn contribute to the students’ curricular outcomes.

General Expectations

A full involvement in the co-curricular program of INTERNATIONAL PUBLIC SCHOOL is vital for all students. INTERNATIONAL PUBLIC SCHOOL, PURNEA is concerned with their all-round development.

Therefore, a genuine participation in the co-curricular program is a central element of our educational process. The co-curricular programs at the school provide the students with

  • The opportunity to experience activities which may become a lifelong interest
  • The opportunity to learn about commitment, collaboration, team work and generosity as a part of a team
  • The opportunity for character development
  • The opportunity to gain enjoyment from participation
  • The opportunity for improved skill development through a plethora of activities
  • The opportunity to develop an effective work ethics
  • The opportunity to exercise, which is vital for growing bodies

Non participation in the co-curricular program is not an option, unless the student is not keeping well but with a written request from the parent. Once a commitment to an activity is made, it must be honored throughout the entire session.Enhance their holistic development by cultivating qualities like self-discipline, perseverance, sharing, responsibility, leadership, team collaboration etc. and enable to supplement and complement the curricular activities.

House activities compliment the inter school competitions. The school conducts a number of Intra school House competitions.

HOUSE ACTIVITIES

The students of the school are divided into four Houses with House captains and vice captains for each house. The teachers also are equally given charge of the houses to monitor the activities.

A host of competitions (Literary, Arts, Sports and Cultural) are conducted among these houses. The prize distribution of the various competitions held in an academic year will be given to the students in three segments.

1. During PARAMPARA- House Fest of IPS
2. Republic Day
3. Annual day

The students are divided into 5 Categories listed below, to ensure the maximum participation.

CLUB ACTIVITIES

Students can choose any one of the various clubs performing in the school to nurture their talent.

The Clubs also provide additional information to the students and organize activities like discussions, reviews etc

HOUSE SYSTEM

The house system introduced helps to divide the pupil into more congenial and manageable units.

The four house systems are
1. KIRAN BEDI
2. KALPANA CHAWLA
3. P.T USHA
4. LATA MANGESKAR

Just as each Person has their own persona, origin and power which make them unique, so too each house functions in its own way to achieve wholesomeness and portrays the growth of each child.

The sense of commitment within the four houses encourages a feeling of identity and belonging.

The four houses strike a good balance between competition and cooperation. Every house is further divided into 5 categories which are as follows:

YOGA CLASSES

Yoga is a meditative art form that releases toxins from the body and keeps it physically active. Light yogic practices happens in the assembly every day and there is a period allotted for yoga for our kids.

The yogic practices provide a perfect ambiance to the child’s body and smoothen their mind for better performance. It also increases the flexibility level in the body thus keeping their body healthy and providing a healthier state of mind too.

ART & CRAFT

At an International public School fine arts is given due significance, we believe that the inherent talent of a child should be brought out.

Thus, here the artistic and creative bent of the child is brought through creative art forms. Confidence is also built up in our girls to choose it as a vocation in later years of their life.

MUSIC & DANCE

It is a well-known fact that music & dance are food for the soul and once the soul is free of all impediments, the body is ready to function stress-free. Therefore, at International Public-School lessons in music & dance occupies a pivotal position.

Children are given lessons in music & dance to keep them emotionally charged and spread a pallor of happiness in their minds and make them soulful human beings.
